Bears, Rainbows, and Unicorns OH MY!

Updated: Apr 3, 2023

Trying to hop back onto the saddle with this blogging thing as the Easter season seemed to have escaped me! I'm finally getting around to editing photos to share Izzy's 4th birthday party and reuploaded Max's 1st party details so they're both in one place!

Do you go all out for birthdays or alternate years?

Typically for a 1st birthday I like to go all out, but this year we chose to keep Max's celebration to just immediate family. His party theme was A BEAR-y Happy 1st Birthday, since we like to call him our little bear!

I teamed up with some amazing small shops on Instagram for a few of the decorative elements.

My sweet friend Becca from June and Joy Paperie made me some perfect signs and these adorable pennant flags that matched the color scheme so well! The little bear pinata was from The Pinata Mami who I connected with over Instagram. She can create a customized pinata for any occasion and we also used her for Izzy's unicorn and rainbow mini pinatas! (Scroll down to see)

If you're looking for some seriously amazing custom confetti, Brenda from Festive Fetti is my go-to gal! Her mixes are my absolute favorite and I use her confetti mixes for every occasion and holiday!

I found the perfect bear/camping birthday kit on Amazon with the cutest bear plates, napkins, cups, cake topper, and garlands. You can find it here on my Amazon store front. [Affiliate link]

The table cloth, straws, and wood rounds were also from Amazon and the flocked pine trees and bunting were from Target (during Christmas).

I DIYed a balloon garland (also Amazon) and I love how it all came out! I also found a local cookie baker in my area and she nailed these adorable themed cookies. I mean.. SO GOOD!

Lastly, the cake!

Here's a little MOM HACK for you:

Grocery store cakes have come a long way and you can order ahead and buy a customized cake for a fraction of the cost! (Now, I do give credit to small bakers and have often purchased from them, but grocery stores have been my go-to in a pinch!) His smash cake is clearly homemade since Max has allergies and I'm definitely not an expert baker, HA! Regardless, he loved it and that's all that matters!

Izzy's 4th Birthday: Unicorns & Rainbows

This year Izzy specifically requested a "unicorn rainbow" birthday and I couldn't say know because I love me some fun colors! I opted for rainbow pastels and with fun pops of pink (her favorite color) and I think it turned out so fun!

I partnered with official SunJellies for the favors, using their adorable mini jelly bags to fill with some fun treats for the guests. (Check my reel out on Instagram to see everything I included)

Of course her table decorations included ALL. THE. DISCO. BALLS. because unicorns and disco balls are basically synonymous, right? Also I can't even with that custom confetti!

My favorite party shops to find paper good include Ellie and Piper, Shop Sweet Lulu, Sprinkle Bash, and Little Color Co.

Her rainbow balloon garland, including the beautiful giant unicorn balloon, were put together by my friend Cher from Cher Can Do. Definitely check her out if you're looking for either preset or custom balloon installations!

Custom cookies work as temporary table decor as well as favors for guests!

Both Izzy's cakes were grocery store cakes, I couldn't believe the white one was so much cheaper than a similar custom cake I was inquiring about with a local bakery. It worked out for her theme perfectly! (The pink was a semi-DIY since the day of her party was in San Diego at my sisters place).

Overall I think the kid's birthdays were a success and I'm already thinking of ideas for Max's 2nd this Fall!

Do you allow your kids to pick their birthday party themes? Let me know in the comments.
